Other Features: We wish to welcome the work of the late Rod Chappel to our gallery of handmade knives, with this exquisite piece he called  the Chief Joseph Hunter. It would definitely fit the bill for heavy duty tasks in the field.  To start off, Mr. Chappel sculpted the handle from one solid piece of fossil walrus.  He sure did a fantastic job making the handle very ergonomic.  It feels like it is a part of your hand when you grab hold of it.   The blade steel of this lovely piece is made from cryogenically heat treated 440C stainless steel that is mirror polished to perfection.  Boy, is this knife sharp !!  As with all of Mr. Chappels knives, a heavy duty tanned wood/cowhide belt sheath is included.  Some of the other features of this piece include, stainless guard and handmade butt cap; black spacers on both front and back of the handle.  The combination of carved handle and steel components equate to a very ergonomic hold.  These features aid greatly should the owner decide to put this knife to hard work.   From an artistic standpoint, this combination also adds just the right amount of contrast to the piece as well.  For the serious fixed blade collector, this piece would fit rather nicely in with your Loveless, Johnson and other high end treasures.  Whether in the collection or in your hunting gear, this knife will do it all.
